Top Ten Things to See & Do in Runswick Bay

Explore the pathways through our pretty village and see the history before your eyes. We have a little unwritten rule - if there's a gate - don't go through it!

Have a Knickerbocker Glory, a Scone with jam and cream, or order a takeaway picnic from Sandside Cafe. Pick up your buckets and spades, ice creams and 50p mix from here as well.

Fossil Hunting - search for ammonites, belemnites, or perhaps some Jet, pretty shells and pebbles.

Rockpools - discover the sea life living in our plentiful rockpools.

Find the 2 natural springs that we have in the village and see how clear the water is. Locals still drink this cool refreshing water!

Find a fishing coble - our local traditional fishing boat in the boatpark and watch the boats launch for many sea based activities.

Runswick Bay Rescue Boat - take a look at this voluntary rescue service aligned to the RNLI but funded entirely by donations from visitors and supporters (they don't get any government grants or financial support from the RNLI) Put a penny or three in their collection boxes around the village and watch them train on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Paddleboarding and Kayaking. Bring your own equipment to our calm waters in the Summer or hire from our friends at Barefoot Kayak who have a pop up facility on the beach when the tides are right.

Enjoy your favourite tipple and a meal in the Royal Hotel pub either on the sunny terrace in the Summer or infront of their cosy log burner in the winter. A pub for all seasons.

And finally - just sit in the comfort of one of our holiday cottages, with the windows open, listening to the waves and dream of a simpler life by the sea, which for a short time, you can pretend is a reality.

You'll find wherever you may stray, no prettier spot than Runswick Bay"
