Welcome to East Cottage, Runswick Bay.
Located in the upper part of Runswick Bay village, this charming cottage is an ideal bolthole for one or two people. We regrettably are unable to accept pets (please note the owners have an elderly Labrador nearby who will be kept away from guests) A baby not on the move and sleeping in a cot is welcome to stay. There is off street parking and a little garden / sitting out area to enjoy the sunshine.
East Cottage is in a great location for visiting many wonderful local attractions, walking routes (the cottage is a stones throw from the Cleveland Way National Trail) and cycle networks (the Staithes to Lythe circular cycle route passes the end of the road).
Within walking distance is the local pub (The Runswick Bay Hotel) which serves food and drinks daily (open from March to December) and beyond just 1 mile away is the quaint village of Hinderwell where you find a local butchers, pubs and a petrol station. The Ellerby offers food daily and is also 1 mile away - you can even catch the bus there and back (the X4 Arriva bus, runs hourly)
East Cottage is within easy reach of Whitby, our nearest town with an abundance of shops, restaurants and attractions such as Whitby Abbey, the Captain Cook Memorial museum, Ghost walks, Whitby Jet workshops and museum and steam train journeys.
Just 2 miles away is the charming village of Staithes, which boasts village art galleries and shops, tearooms, pubs, a small supermarket (Co-op) with ATM, fresh fish merchants and it's also possible to book chartered fishing trips / sunset cruises.
Runswick Bay is a quiet former fishing village with one cafe (open mid March to mid October) and two pubs available for meals. The village has a volunteer Rescue Boat service and RNLI Lifeguards patrol the beach from June to September.
