Welcome to Pear Tree Cottage, Runswick Bay

Pear Tree Cottage is a charming, rustic property suitable for 2 people in Runswick Bay. (Sorry no pets or children)

One of the most admired and oldest cottages in the village, it is adorned with a real pear tree growing majestically up the frontage. Inside, you will find that the interior is straight from a Bronte novel, and with its uneven walls, low ceilings and wonky floors, the understated comfort allows guests to relax in the non pretentious surroundings.

If you're looking for modern and spacious, then I'm afraid this isn't the cottage for you. However if you like the simpler way of life (with just enough modern appliances), and are looking for a traditional fishermans cottage with bags of character - I look forward to welcoming you to Pear Tree Cottage.

The accommodation is over 2 floors, with low ceilings and beams. A private patio to the front offers a table and chairs, suitable for al fresco dining with sea views.

Perfect for unloading, guests can easily access the cottage by car and park momentarily outside to unload luggage. A residents car park permit is included with each booking. Wifi and landline telephone available.

In more detail, this cottage is an ideal base for one or two people over 2 floors with the accommodation comprising:-

Entrance which presents the open plan living area with;

  • generous sized open plan lounge with flatscreen TV and Sky Freeview, Wifi, occasional chairs, sofa, writing bureau / desk, feature stone fireplace with wood burning stove (starter pack of logs provided October to February)
  • leading through to a compact kitchen with sink (step on entry), fridge (please note there is no freezer at this property), electric four ring hob, electric oven and grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, and lots of pots and pans etc.
  • Up the wonky staircase takes you to the house bathroom (with a very low door - mind your head), a bath (no shower, sorry), toilet, sink, mirror and heated towel rail.
  • to the front of the cottage, is the double bedroom with King size bed and sea views, hypo allergenic bedlinen, and one towel per person is provided per booking.

To the front of the cottage, there is a table and chairs and discreet planting to offer some privacy whilst allowing views of the sea.

The use of our residents car park permit is included for your booking for one vehicle. This property has free wifi and a land line telephone on request. No pets, no smokers

From the A174, approach Runswick via Ellerby Lane and turn right into the lower village down a steep 1:4 hill.
Pear Tree Cottage is in the main lower village of Runswick Bay.
Turn left at the mini roundabout and drive into the village to the end of the road and Pear Tree Cottage is in front of you - perfect for unloading bags.

You can park outside the cottage to unload only, then your car must be parked in the Resident’s car park – a short walk away from the property.

One car parking permit is provided for use in the Resident’s Car park for the duration of your stay. Additional vehicles must park in the public Pay & Display car park where daily charges apply. The residents permit does not guarantee a space.
